ITANAGAR: You Tuber Paras Singh was on Friday remanded to one-day police custody by a local court here after he landed in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday night from Ludhiana in Punjab.

Singh who was produced before the court virtually on Friday was brought to the state by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) of State police after obtaining a three-day transit remand from a court of First Class Judicial Magistrate at Ludhiana, a senior police official said.

The SIT team, who went to Ludhiana, was led by inspector Techi Vijay. Singh would be produced again in the court on Saturday and after that, he would be sent to judicial custody IGP (Law & Order) Chukhu Apa informed.

The state government on Monday filed a case against the YouTuber for making racial remarks against senior Congress MLA Ninong Ering and inciting ill will and hatred towards the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

Paras made the comments while reacting to a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Ering wherein the latter had asked the PM to ban the re-launch of PUBG Mobile India's new avatar Battlegrounds Mobile India.

Ering had reasoned that the game was aimed at deceiving the government and citizens and should be banned in the country.

SIT SP Rohit Rajbir Singh informed that during investigation it was revealed that Paras Singh has two accounts on YouTube - Paras Official with 4.67 lakh subscribers and Paras Gamer with 3.94 lakh subscribers. "His account Paras Official was opened in January 2018 and Paras Gamer was opened in December 2017. His account Paras Gamers is used for showing gameplay of PUBG only and the account Paras Official is used for showing tips/tricks/informing about new dresses/weapon/ skins of games like COD mobile, PUBG, unboxing videos," the SP said.

Both the channels are monetized by YouTube. Thus, on average, accused Paras earns around Rs 20000 to 25000 per month from his videos, the SP said adding, he revealed that he made the controversial video to gain widespread attention and views so that his monetary income could be maximized.

"His motive was that he became enraged after reading the MLA's letter about PUBG, as banning PUBG would have meant a sure shot loss in income," the SP added. The accused is 22 years old and he did his education up to class X and lives with his mother. He earns money through his YouTube channel.

However, Paras has been remanded to six days judicial custody by the court today. He shall be lodged in the July jail for this period.
